CLAN CLANS

Verbatim in-game help.

On Dark Pawns, CLANS are associations of players that have banded together
for a specific purpose. Most CLANS are made up of adventurers who have decided
to work together for mutual gain.
If you would like to form your own clan, you need to be over level 10 and enlist
the aid of two other players (not multis) who are currently not in any other clans.
After these requirements have been met, ask to speak to a God. Additionally, there
is usually a minor quest or task involved in order to finalize the creation of your
new clan.
CLAN WHO Displays the names and ranks of fellow clan-members that are currently
online.
CLAN MEMBERS Displays all the members in your clan.
CLAN STATUS Displays your current rank in your CLAN.

without any arguments to get a list of current CLANS).

GROUP

Verbatim in-game help.

Usage: group [player]
group all
GROUP with no arguments shows the status of your group. GROUP <player>
adds or removes <player> from your group. GROUP ALL adds everyone who is
following you to your group.
If you are a group member, then you will share experience points for killing
monsters equally among the group. Experience points will only be shared among
group members that are in the same location, at the time of the killing
blow. Sharing is regardless of whether the group members have been
participating in the fight.
Group with no argument shows a list of people with whom you are grouped.
"group all" groups all people who are following you.
To make a group, a "leader" must be selected. All members of the group
must then "follow" the leader using the follow command. The leader should
NOT follow anyone at all! The leader can now toggle group membership for
each player in the group, by using "group <player_name>". The leader
should remember to include himself in the group.
Example:
Quifael and Redferne wishes to group with Dragon.
Quifael : "follow dragon"
Redferne: "follow dragon"
(Dragon should be following no one but himself)
Dragon : "group dragon"
Dragon : "group redferne"
Dragon : "group quifael"
Later when Dragon get upset at Quifael (because he is sleeping all the time)
he types : "Group Quifael" to kick Quifael out of the group.

MULTI MULTIPLAY MULTI-PLAY

Verbatim in-game help.

Dark Pawns has been designed to be a challenging mud. Because of this,
Playing only one char who doesn't group with other players will prove to
be tough. At first, a solo player should be able to do fine by themselves.
However, it will take some time to level and earn decent equipment. Once
you get into the mid levels though, going solo might prove to be extremely
difficult. A level 1 player fighting a level 1 mob is about even. A level
15 player fighting a level 15 mob doesn't probably stand a chance.
Because some players prefer to adventure alone, we have instituted a policy
Of multi-playing in order to offset this somewhat. Each player may have a
Total of 3 characters at any given time. More than three players is not
tolerated and will be severely punished when caught (I think this policy is
More than generous, why push it?) Please note, linkdead characters that are
still in game count towards your three multis. Log 'em out if you aren't
using them.
Finally, if you don't know about mud-clients:
you should look into them. In a nutshell, mud-clients are front-end
programs that allow you to manage aspects of mudding much easier, including
multi characters. Ask a high level player about them or search them out on
the web. Three popular ones are Tintin, Tinyfugue(both for UNIX shell accounts)
and Zmud (Windows based). Please do not bother the Imms and Gods about mud
clients!
