An Alcove

Description
This alcove was likely a shrine of some sort long ago, but now there are no icons in the niches on either side of the small room, and the depression in the floor that likely used to contain water is empty now. There is a faded fresco on the ceiling, its design rendered unintelligible by the ravages of time. Two ivy-covered marble arches set in the north and south walls provide egress from this former holy place.
